Test CoE is Specialist's Job

Experience is a must in successfully developing and running a TCoE.

Most organizations see testing as mission critical today but few see it as important enough to be funded as a permanent organization. The reason for this is essentially the fact that testing is not the core competence of these enterprises. Though imperative, an enterprise that sells insurance or a retail giant cannot and should not be expected to run testing centers of excellence on their own within their organization. But for these enterprises, needless to mention without a centralized testing function, testing practices can become disjointed, redundant, or left to the development organization to handle.

The second and probably equally important reason organizations should look at specialist to establish and run their TCoEs rather than do it on their own is because establishing a TCoE without prior experience can run into an expensive proposition and unanticipated delays.

Last but not the least the reason we recommend calling in the experts is because it is difficult if not impossible for in-house testing organizations to keep up with technology changes in the testing realm.

We have seen many organizations that initially, try to develop their own TCoE, but quickly realize that they need expert help to accelerate the process and get it right from the word go!
