Wireless Networking Solutions Testing Introduction

Wireless Networking Partners offer specialized wireless client devices and wireless enabled client-server based applications to allow real time, secure access to information at the point of delivery of a product or service. Wireless Networking Solutions are based on the Cisco Aironet Series of enterprise-ready Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) infrastructure products that provide the performance, investment protection, security and manageability demanded by IS professionals. These solutions enable enterprise customers to deliver intelligent network services including Quality of Service (QoS), management and security to the wireless network edge for improved employee productivity and network efficiency for reduced costs

Why Interoperability Testing?

Interoperability Testing by an independent, third-party testing facility adds validation to not only the product tested but also to the architecture and infrastructure. Customers are assured that they can deploy verified Wireless network solutions that interoperate with Cisco Aironet Wireless network infrastructure products.

Products To Be Tested

Wireless Networking Solutions are based on the Cisco Aironet Access Points that deliver enterprise-ready Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) infrastructure that provides the performance, investment protection, security and manageability demanded by IS professionals. Procedures For Interoperability Testing

Cisco has selected AppLabs as the Independent Testing Center authorized to perform Interoperability Testing for Wireless Networking Solutions Partners participating in the Cisco Technology Developer Program. Participation in this program includes having your Wireless Networking Solution tested by AppLabs. Interoperability testing verifies your product for use with various Cisco wireless and network infrastructure products. A flowchart sample of the verification testing process is available at: Process Flowchart

After completing your interoperability pre-test at Cisco's San Jose headquarters, you will be required to register your product with AppLabs. Registration takes place on the AppLabs website after your application is approved for participation by Cisco. A testing fee is paid directly to AppLabs for testing services rendered.

You will register with AppLabs using the information provided in the email message and enter your temporary code and assigned password. During the registration process you will be assigned a Company Code and a Product Submission Code. Both of these codes will use a password which you choose at the time you register. The Company Code allows you to register multiple products without having to enter the information about your company every time you have a product to verify.

When you complete the product registration at AppLabs, your product will be assigned a unique Product Submission Code and you will select a password to accompany your registration. NOTE: The Product Submission Code is unique to each product AND version verified. Within 24 hours of product registration, a representative from AppLabs will contact you to coordinate payment details (if any), delivery of your product to be tested, and scheduling of your product in the testing lab.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Prior to having your product tested by AppLabs you are required to have a Cisco Approved Interoperability Test Plan. This Test Plan should be approved prior to scheduling a test date with AppLabs.

You will provide a generally and commercially available version of your product to Cisco and AppLabs. AppLabs will then perform the interoperability testing ensuring that your product meets the criteria and specifications as defined by Cisco. AppLabs will execute the test plan for the particular product category of the solution you have provided and according to the type of test you have selected. During the testing process, you will have the ability to check the status of the interoperability testing from the AppLabs web site. This Testing Status Log is only accessible using the Product Submission Code and the password you choose. Your Testing Status Log is updated in 'real-time' as you request it and will contain a complete record of your product's test history, engineering comments, and any other relevant data pertaining to the testing of your product.

At the conclusion of the interoperability testing, AppLabs will deliver to Cisco a copy of your executed Verification Test Plan (VTP). Once your product has passed interoperability testing and you have completed all required marketing documents, you will be notified of your acceptance into the program. Your Cisco Wireless Networking Solutions Program Manager will provide you with the appropriate Cisco logo to use. You are also eligible to participate in Cisco sponsored co-marketing events for partners in Wireless Networking Solutions and Cisco Technology Developer Program related events.
